What happened: The Wall Street Journal published some interesting facts this week about the use of social media in the U.S. Turns out during April 2010 was a record breaker with Facebook logging 122 Million unique visitors, meaning each one who came to Facebook was only counted once. MySpace came in second at 69 Million and Twitter took third at 22 Million. The rest are in the illustration.

Why it matters: The way people are getting ideas, sharing thoughts, creating links and relating to colleagues, or simply making friends is changing. Ask yourself, can you name your neighbors full names who live on either side of your home or across the street? And could you tell us something about their top interests? Curiously enough you could if you were linked to them on one of the multi-channels above. Welcome to the new future.
